Ted & Sharon Climbed the Mountain

After many years of just passing overhead on their many journeys, Ted & Sharon finally dropped out of the sky to visit us in June 2010. They are some seriously tough old birds! They climbed Cerro Grande with us - the only visitors to climb a mountain here in years (John's brother David being the most reliable mountain climber when he doesn't get lost).

This is a picture of Sharon, where she decided to stop and meditate near the top. She was more into the spiritual beauty aspect of the mountain. The rest of us goal-oriented over-achievers kept on to the summit!

Ted was quite proud of himself! How many men his age have climbed a mountain wearing a skirt? And - another man's skirt at that!! He posed with Eleni while catching his breath at the pile of rocks that mark the highest point.

Ted is always ready to get down and pray. We never found out what he was praying for/about here. Perhaps some more oxygen? At least it is comfortable to kneel in a kilt.

Zak, Angela, & Kaitlyn came to visit post-climb. Sharon & Ted always had good kid-energy when Zak & Ana were kids. They still do! Kaitlyn latched on to Sharon immediately.
